IB Art is a 4 year track increasing in intensity and rigor from one year to the next. The program culminates with the IB Art exam taken in the spring of the senior year.

 

The classes are as follows:

 

1. Internation Honors I (9th grade) â€“ Survey course of art techniques & media: drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, etc.

2. International Honors II (10th grade) - Expands on techniques previously learned so students have sound working knowledge in multiple areas of art.

3. IB III (11th grade) â€“ Students start to work more independently researching the art skills they are most interested in while developing their portfolios.

4. IB IV (12th grade) â€“ Students independently develop a strong portfolio that is the culmination of all 4 years in preparation for the IB Art exam.

 

The IB Assessment INCLUDES:

· an Artist statement

· Strongest 12 artworks (will be photographed)

· Investigation Workbooks (IW)- sketchbooks documenting artistic journey & process

· IB show (will include more artwork than the forementioned 12 photographed pieces)

· Interview with an outside IB examiner at the IB Art show

· Artist Comparison Presentation
