· Art I A

Students learn 2D drawing techniques & basic art skills.

· Art I B

Students learn 3D sculpture & ceramic techniques & basic art skills.

 

These courses combined together satisfy a student's Fine Art requirement for graduation. These classes are also prerequisites for any Advanced or AP Art course.

 

Advanced Art

Garland High School offers a large number of varied advanced art courses for students who want to continue to pursue visual art studies but either do not qualify or are not interested in the AP and IB program.  

 

· Drawing II, III, IV– Students focus more in-depth on drawing skills such as: drawing from life, adding realistic values, perspective, portraits & more in pencil and other various drawing media.

· Painting II, III, IV– Students develop basic art & drawing skills but with painting mediums such as acrylics, tempera, watercolors and more.

· Ceramics II, III, IV– Students work exclusively with clay. Instrcution focuses on hand building techniques, as well as how to throw on the wheel, glaze, and fire pottery.

· Sculpture II, III, IV– Students work three-dimensionally with an assortment of materials. The possibility exist to make various kinds of sculptures, which can include ceramics.
